Sam BradfordSam BradfordESPN/Scout's Inc. talent guru Todd McShay posted a mock draft today. (The link leads under the ESPN Insider umbrella so if you're not subscribed to that, you probably can't read the story.)

This early list points out some things to watch for if you're a Chiefs fan. At this juncture, everyone in town -- including, you would hope, Carl Peterson -- understands that the Chiefs need to invest in a franchise-caliber quarterback.

I don't know if that guy is really out there this year. Georgia's Matthew Stafford has been touted as the top guy for most of the season. Lately, though OU's Sam Bradford has talent watchers turning a little giddy.

Right now, given the Chiefs problems on and off the field, it's hard to envision them winning more than a couple of games this season. However the Lions and Bengals are both winless and neither team shows signs of winning any time soon. If the Bengals draft ahead of the Chiefs, that's no problem. Cincinnati has no problems at the quarterback position. It's the rest of the team that is a mess.

The Lions depth chart at QB, however, consists of Dan Orlovsky and Drew Stanton. The problem for the Chiefs is that from what I've heard, no one really expects Sam Bradford to turn pro after this season. So if you believe the gurus, this is essentially a one quarterback draft, at least in terms of franchise types.

If you're a Chiefs fan, you gotta root for your boys to keep losing and hope that the Lions can steal a couple of games somewhere along the line.
