A Mirror Image redelephants.comA Mirror Image redelephants.comAs you may remember, the very first post on UFR was a Reesing vs Daniel argument between Brad and I. If you want to go back and review it, here is the link. I was going to do an update on UFR’s one-year anniversary (October 23, when KU would have been, presumably 6-0). However, with the Mangino comments about Reesing being included in the Heisman discussion, I thought I would go ahead evaluate how Reesing is progressing compared to Daniel’s three seasons. It’s amazingly close.

Daniel was waived by New Orleans Tuesday.

As to any Heisman analysis regarding Reesing, that will have to wait. KU has five super tough games and they are going to lose some of them. Personally, I can’t see Reesing in the Heisman conversation a few weeks, although I hope I’m wrong.

What I’m going to do is to show you their stats side-by-side for their Sophomore, Junior and Senior seasons. Finally, I will do a side-by-side for their entire career.

*KU still has between seven and nine games left.

I did not include Freshman stats in this comparison because it would have hurt Daniel considerably more than Reesing. The reason is because he played small parts of 10 games compared to three for Reesing. Since five of the categories are based upon “per game”, that would skew the results. At the end of the season, I will do totals for their careers and that will include each player’s Freshman season.

CAREER (Projected)

There are a couple things to keep in mind here. I’m assuming KU will play eight more games – which assumes they don’t play in the Big 12 championship game, but they do play in a bowl. I’m also taking the averages that Reesing had in 2008 and so far in 2009 to project out what he will do by the end of this season on a per-game basis. Obviously, the schedule gets tougher, but he’s also more experienced with each game.

Also, FWIW, at this point, I’m projecting Kansas will go 10-3 on the season.

I just don’t see how you can get any closer than that for two undersized Texas high school QBs that took over struggling programs in the Big 12 north.
